Masturbating whilst fasting

Question:-

if a person masturbated and continued to fast, would he make Qadhaa only, or Qadhaa and Kaffarah?

If one can not recall if masturbation 100% occurred while fasting in the past, or if he was just aroused, should he keep a Qadhaa fast just in case?

Answer:-

By masturbating the fast is nullified, hence one is required to make Qadhaa of the fast. Kaffarah will not be necessary. In the case of doubt, one may keep Qadha of the fast as a precautionary measure.
