Metaverse Quraan Sharif

Question:-

I have come across a video wherein a Muslim Journalist has come up with a “Metaverse” Quaan Shareef.

The aim of this “Metaverse Quraan” is for non-Arabic speakers and readers to be able to understand the Quraan while reciting the Quraan, or while the Quraan is being recited.

The listener wears Virtual Reality glasses and performs Salaah. The Aayaat and the meaning appear on the screen.

I would like to know if it is permissible to use this device in Salaah?

Answer:-

By using such a device Salaah will not be valid hence, it will not be permissible to utilize the device. The jurists have written that, by reading a verse directly from the Quraan Sharif or from the Mushaf in Salaah (which one had not previously memorised) invalidates the Salaah. In the scenario above, we understand that one will be looking and reciting from the Mushaf which is displayed on the screen, together with the translation. Hence, he will be reading the Arabic from the screen and understanding the meaning at the same time, which will invalidate his Salaah. Instead of connecting with Allah Ta’ala in Salaah (which is referred to as Khushoo) one will be focusing all his attention on the screen, hence destroying all the spirituality of his Salaah. If one doesn’t know the meaning of the Quraan Sharif, then he is required to focus on the words that he is reciting in Salaah, or, he may learn the meaning of the short Surahs and recite these in Salaah. This just seems to be another way of destroying the Rooh of our Ibaadaat.
