Question:-
I see people walking into the Musjid on the day of Jumuah after the talk whilst the Khutba is on the verge of ending. They quickly make Wudhu, come into the Masjid and join the Salaah. This is now becoming the norm. I therefore think that the Maulana delivering the lecture should advice the congregation in regards to this. Jazakallah Khairan. I anticipate your answer! May the Almighty Allah reward you and your family.
Answer:-
The day of Jumuah is indeed an auspicious and important day in the life of a Muslim. Every Muslim should make a concerted effort and ensure that he prepares himself well in advance for the Jumuah Salaah and proceed to the Masjid as early as possible.
Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam has mentioned several virtues regarding the day of Jumuah. We have quoted two of these narrations below;
Hadrat Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “The best day on which the sun rises is the day of Jumuah, it was on this day that Adam Alaihis Salaam was created and it was on this day that he was granted entry into Jannah, and it was on this day that he was removed from Jannah. Qiyaamah will not take place except on the day of Jumuah.
Aus bin Aus Ath-Thaqafi Radiallahu Anhu narrated to me, I heard Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying: “Whoever takes Ghusl on the day of Jumuah, gets up early, walks (to the Masjid) and does not use a conveyance, remains close to the Imam, listens attentively (to the Khutbah) and does not get involved in any futile act, then for every step that he takes he will receive the reward of one year’s fasting and standing (in Ibaadat) at night.
The importance of proceeding early for the Jumuah Salaah can be understood from these narrations.
Now coming to your query, if a person misses the Khutbah of Jumuah but gets the Jumuah Salaah then the Salaah be valid. However, one will be sinful for not listening to the Khutbah.

In conclusion, the Imaam should inform the people regarding the above Mas’ala. This should be done when all the people have gathered in the Masjid, hence, just before commencing the Salaah will be an ideal opportunity to inform the congregation of the importance of being present for the Khutbah of Jumuah.
