Can a Kaafir be named Muhammad or is it prohibited?
Answer:-
We were unable to find any explicit ruling on your query. It however seems farfetched that a Kaafir will keep the name Muhammad. Had he loved Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam and his name, then he would have certainly accepted Islam and followed the teachings of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
The name ‘Muhamamd’ means praiseworthy, and a Kaafir that is an enemy of Allah, His Rasul and the Muslims, can never be praiseworthy, hence a Kaafir should not be named Muhammad unless he embraces the Deen of Islam.
