Online Aalimah Course

QUESTION:

A female is looking to study the Aalimah course online and came across Madrassah Urwa Bin Zubair. Please advise if this Madrassah is a suitable choice.

ANSWER:

Fundamentally, to acquire the knowledge of Deen is necessary for both males and females, to the extent that one’s Aqaaid (beliefs), Ibadaat (various forms of worship), Mua’amalaat (dealings and transactions), Mua’asharat (social etiquettes), and Akhlaaq (good character and mannerisms) are rectified.

Consider the following Hadith:

طلب العلم فريضة على كل مسلم (المعجم الأوسط # 5246)

“The seeking of knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.”

Regarding women acquiring Deeni knowledge, it will be best if the father or some relative may teach her from home. If this option is not available, then in principle, it is permissible for a woman to study at a girl’s Madrassah which follows the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, irrespective of whether the Madrassah is online or onsite, on condition that no law of Shariah is violated such as:

1. There is no intermingling between the male Ustaad and students

2. If the classes are online, there is no photography or videography involved.

You may also consider Madrasah Zaynab in Lusaka, Zambia, as they offer online courses as well, and any other Madrassah which fulfils the criteria of Shariah. Furthermore, we advise you to select a Madrassah where the teachers are female.

ALLAH TA’ALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST!
