Performing Salaah with a pig skin wallet in one’s pocket

Question:-

A person unknowingly prayed with a wallet made with the skin of pig. Is his Salaah valid ?

Answer:-

Every portion of the pig is Najis-ul-Ain hence, it is not permissible to perform Salaah whilst wearing pig skin or being in possession of pig skin. However, according to Imaam Yusuf Rahimahullah if the pig skin is tanned, then it becomes pure. Hence, if the pig skin was tanned (in the queried scenario), then Salaah performed with the wallet in one’s pocket will be valid according to the view of Imaam Yusuf Rahimahullah. It will be permissible to act on this view of Imaam Yusuf Rahimahullah based on necessity, as there will be difficulty on the Musalli if he is required to repeat all the Salaah performed with the wallet in his pocket. However, if it is just a few Salaah, then it is best that he repeats those Salaah.
