Question:-
When repeating a Salaah that was performed whilst sitting in a plane due to unforeseen circumstances, what should one intend? Similarly what intention should one make when repeating a Salaah wherein a Waajib act was left out, whether repeating it within the Salaah time or after it’s expiry?
Answer:-
When repeating the Salaah that was performed on a plane whilst sitting or a Salaah that is Waajibul I’aadah then one should make Niyyat that I am performing Salaah to rectify the deficiency in the Fardh (that was already performed), as the Fardh was already discharged with the first Salaah. The second Salaah is Nafl which is performed with the intention of rectifying the deficiency in the Fardh.
وَأَمَّا الصَّلَاةُ الْمُعَادَةُ لِارْتِكَابِ مَكْرُوهٍ أَوْ تَرْكِ وَاجِبٍ، فَلَا شَكَّ إنَّهَا جَابرةٌ لَا فَرْضَ.
لِقَوْلِهِمْ بِسُقُوطِ الْفَرْضِ بِالْأُولَى، فَعَلَى هَذَا يَنْوِي كَوْنَهَا جَابرةً لِنَقْضِ الْفَرْضِ عَلَى أَنَّهَا نَفْلٌ تَحْقِيقًا وَأَمَّا عَلَى الْقَوْلِ بِأَنَّ الْفَرْضَ لَا يَسْقُطُ بِهَا فَلَا خَفَاءَ فِي اشْتِرَاطِ نِيَّةِ الْفَرْضِيَّةِ.
وَأَمَّا نِيَّةُ الْأَدَاءِ وَالْقَضَاءِ فَفِي التَّتَارْخَانِيَّة إذَا عَيَّنَ الصَّلَاةَ الَّتِي يُؤَدِّيَهَا صَحَّ. (الاشباه والنظائر ص72 ج1)
