QUESTION:
Is it permissible to play Qiraat loudly in a shop while the shop is busy with customers and people are engaged in business talk and worldly talk? The Quraan is been played for Barakah, so will Barakah be removed in this case?
ANSWER:
We do not approve of playing Quraan Sharif loudly in shops as this is tantamount to disrespect to the Quraan Majeed. Allah Ta’ala states,
وَمَن يُعَظِّمْ شَعَائِرَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهَا مِن تَقْوَى الْقُلُوبِ (الحجّ :32)
Andآ whosoever honours the Symbols of Allah, then it is indeed from the piety of the hearts.
Another verse of the Quraan Sharif states:
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنصِتُوا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ (سورة الأعراف آ:204)
And when the Quraan is recited, listen to it attentively and remain silent so that you may be shown mercy.
The malls and business areas are generally noisy as people are involved in buying and selling. To engage in business whilst a recording of the Quraan Sharif is being played is tantamount to disrespect to the Quraan Sharif as stated above.
Yes, if one recites the Quraan Sharif in one’s business by looking into the Mushaf or from memory, then the mercy of Allah Ta’ala and blessings will descend on one’s business. This is indeed a means of acquiring Barakah. Barakah in one’s business can also be attained by regularly discharging one’s Zakaat on time, being truthful when trading, living a life piety and refraining from all forms of sin, etc. By reciting the following Wazifah 100 times between Subh Saadiq and Fajr Salaah one will acquire blessing in one’s sustenance.
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْعَظِيْمِ اَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ
