Question:-
After burying the deceased, it is the practice of the people to pour water on the grave after filling the grave with soil. Also, when family members visit the graves of their beloved ones, they tend to pour water on their graves. Is this practice correct?
Answer:-
There is no problem in pouring water on the grave in order to consolidate the soil and make it firm. However, to regard pouring water on the grave as necessary and a means of attaining reward is an innovation and sin. [Re:- Ahsanul Fataawa Pg.234 Vol.7]
