QUESTION:
I would like clarification on how to end ones Dua? Is there is any authentic Ahadeeth stating that the face should be wiped? Should one raise the hands and end with امين?
ANSWER:
Wiping the face upon the completion of Dua was the Sunnah and practice of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
عن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا رفع يديه في الدعاء لم يحطهما حتى يمسح بهما وجهه (رواه الترمذي #٣٣٨٦)
Umar Radiallahu Anhu reports: When Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam would raise his hands in Dua, he would not lower them until he passed them over his face” (Sunan Al-Tirmidhi, #3386)
