Preventing Haidh Due to Umrah

QUESTION:

Is it permissible to take a form of medication to stop Haidh if one is travelling for Umrah, due to the unpredictable nature of circumstances and the difficulty in adjusting travel plans?

ANSWER:

It is not advisable to take medication to stop menstruation without a pressing need, as that is harmful to health. Try to adjust your return ticket to the best of your ability. However, it is permissible out of necessity—such as a tight travel schedule where you cannot otherwise perform essentials like Tawaaf—provided a doctor confirms it will not harm your body.
