QUESTION:
Please advise regarding the Halal status of Rainbow chicken. Will the same apply to all other commercially slaughtered chicken?
ANSWER:
We do not approve of all commercially slaughtered chickens due to the uncertainty of its Halaal suitability. Firstly, there is no certainty of the Tasmiyah being recited. Secondly, there is a possibility of birds dying before reaching the slaughterer after the stunning process. In this instance, the slaughterer is slaughtering carrion. We therefore advise one and all to slaughter their own chickens or purchase their chickens from some reliable Muslim farmer who will hand slaughter his birds as required in Shariah, and who does not subject the bird to stunning and going through a defeathering machine.
