Reciting Durood during the Jumuah Khutbah
Question:-
We understand that we should remain silent during the Khutbah, but when the name of our Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is mentioned do we recite durood? Are we allowed to repeat the Dua in the Khutbah, and what is the position on saying ‘Ameen’ during the Dua?
Answer:-
During the Jumuah Khutbah, we are required to remain silent and listen attentively to the Khutbah being recited. Some of the jurists have quoted Imaam Abu Hanifa Rahimahullah saying that, one should not recite Durood upon Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Waasallam when the master Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is mentioned during the Khutbah. However, according to Imaam Yusuf Rahimahullah, it will be permissible to recite Durood (or say Ameen to the Duas in one’s heart), as it does not divert one’s attention from the Khutbah. Based on the above, it will be acceptable to respond in the heart.
