1. Is it permissible for a (married) man to use a hair growth inhibitor or laser on the hair on one’s cheeks, or does it have to be removed by shaving? Also, should the hair be neatened in a line or just the extra be removed?
1. Removing the hair of the cheeks above the jaw line (which is not part of the beard), using creams or a hair growth inhibitor, or a scissor is permitted. However, leaving the hair on the cheek is better. [Re: Fataawa Darul Uloom Zakariyya Vol:7 Pg:289]. There is no prescribed method recorded in the Kitaabs for removing the hair on the cheeks. However, one should avoid using a razor as using a razor on the cheeks is Makrooh.
ولا باس بالخذ من الحاجبين وشعر وجهه ما لم يشبه فعل المخنث (رد المحتار ج٦ص٣٧٣)
اما الاشعار التي على الخدين فليست من اللحية لغة وان كره الفقهاء اخذها ان كان بالحديد فذلك يوجب الخشونة في الخدين وان كان بالنتف فانه يضعف البصر (فيض الباري ج٤ص٣٨٠)
ولو عالج بالنورة في العانة يجوز كذا في الغرائب…وفي حلق شعر الصدر والظهر ترك الأدب كذا في القنية (الفتاوي الهندية ج٥ص٣٥٨)
2. Should the moustache hair be shaved completely (with a razor) or trimmed slightly?
2. It is Sunnah to trim the moustache using a scissor or an electric shaver that follows the same principle as the scissor in terms of clipping. One should avoid using a razor. The moustache may be trimmed/shortened, or completely removed using a scissor or electric shaver.
ذكر الطحاوي في شرح الآثار أن قص الشارب حسن، وتقصيره أن يؤخذ حتى ينقص من الإطار وهو الطرف الأعلى من الشفة العليا قال والحلق سنة وهو أحسن من القص وهذا قول أبي حنيفة وصاحبيه رحمهم الله تعالى كذا في محيط السرخسي (الفتاوي الهندية ج٥ص٢٥٨)
عن زيد بن أرقم: أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: من لم يأخذ من شاربه فليس منا

3. A boy who just became baligh, should he leave his moustache hair to grow until he begins to grow a beard or can he remove his moustache hair completely(laser or growth inhibitor)?
3. The moustache should not grow to the extent that it grows over the upper lip. If one intends to grow his moustache whether young or old, then he should ensure that it is trimmed before it grows over the upper lip. However, it is Sunnah to trim the moustache (using a scissor or electric shaver) as finely as possible. In conclusion, the young boy has a choice of keeping the moustache as explained above or removing the moustache completely. There are severe warnings in the Ahadith for keeping very long moustaches.
