Removing False Teeth Of The Deceased

Sep 4, 2024 | Janaazah

QUESTION:

A Ghusl was conducted where the false teeth of the Mayyit was not removed. The mouth was cleaned, but the jaw was too stiff to remove the teeth. Would it nullify the Ghusl?

ANSWER:

In principle, all unattached items and extra garments should be removed from the deceased at the time of Ghusl. Hence, the false teeth should also be removed if it is possible to remove it without any difficulty. If removing the false teeth is difficult, then Ghusl should be completed without removing it. In the queried scenario, the jaw was too stiff to remove the false teeth therefore the Ghusl will be valid. [Re: Ahsanul Fataawa Vol:4 Pg:240, Fataawa Darul Uloom Zakariyya Vol:2 Pg: 788]
