Returning stolen funds

Question:-

I stole some money from someone and then realized my error. I have also asked forgiveness from Allah Ta’ala. However, I am not able to tell the person from whom I stole the money, due to fear that it will spoil our relationship. Am I permitted to return the money without informing him?

Answer:-

The money must be returned to the owner either by, depositing the funds into his bank account or, by physically handing the money over to him (even though it may be handed over without any explanation). At the same, you should make Taubah for your actions and refrain from committing the sin in future.
