Reward For Saying Aameen Which Coincides With The Angels
Hadrat Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “When the Imaam says,
غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ
Then say, Aameen. For surely he whose statement coincides with that of the Angels, then his past sins are forgiven.”
Another tradition states, “When one of you says Aameen, and the Angels in the Heavens say Aameen, and the two coincide, then his past sins are forgiven.” [Bukhari]
The word Aameen means: O Allah Ta’ala! Accept this supplication. Or, do in like manner. Or, let it be so.
Hadrat Abu Musa Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “When you offer Salaah, straighten your rows and one from amongst you should lead you (in the Salaah). When he says, Allahu Akbar, you should also say, Allahu Akbar. When he says,
غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ
Then say Aameen, Allah Ta’ala will reply to you.” [Muslim]
Hadrat Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “When the Imaam says,
غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ
Those who are behind him say, Aameen. The Aameen of those of the Heavens (Angels) and those of the earth (humans) meet. Allah Ta’ala then forgives a servant his past sins.” Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam also said, “The likeness of he who does not say Aameen is similar to a person who joins people in battle. The people draw lots and their share comes out, but his share does not come out. So he asks, ‘Why has my share not come out?’ A reply is given, ‘You did not say Aameen’.” [Haithami]
Hadrat Anas Radiallahu Anhu narrates, “We were sitting in the company of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam when he said, ‘Allah Ta’ala gave me three things: 1) He gave me Salaah that is offered in rows, 2) He gave me a greeting (Salaam) that is the greeting of the people of Jannah, 3) He gave me the Aameen. He did not give these things to any of the Prophets Alaihimus Salaam before me, except that He gave Haroon Alaihis Salaam (the Aameen). Moosa Alaihis Salaam used to supplicate and Haroon Alaihis Salaam would say Aameen.” [Ibn Khuzaimah]
Hadrat Aisha Radiallahu Anha narrates that the Jews were mentioned in the presence of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, so he said, “They are not so envious of us with regard to anything as they are of three things: 1) The Jumu’ah (Friday Salaah) to which Allah Ta’ala has guided us and from which they deviated, 2) The Qiblah to which Allah Ta’ala guided us, 3) Our saying Aameen behind the Imaam.” [Musnad Ahmad]
