Question:-
What are the rewards of performing I’tikaaf?
Answer:-
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam mentioned regarding the Mu’takif (the one who performs I’tikaaf): He stays away from sins and good deeds are written for him like one who is doing all good actions. [Ibn Mâjah]
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: The reward for performing I’tikaaf in the last ten days of Ramadaan is equal to the reward of two Hajj and two Umrahs. [Targhib vol.2 p.149]
Another narration states, “Whoever performs I’tikaaf with Imaan (faith) and having hope of attaining reward then his past sins will be forgiven.”
مِنْهَا مَا رَوَاهُ ابْن مَاجَه عَن ابْن عَبَّاس أَنه صلى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلم قَالَ فِي الْمُعْتَكف: ” وَهُوَ يعكف الذُّنُوب وَيجْرِي لَهُ من الْحَسَنَات كعامل الْحَسَنَات كلهَا ” وَمِنْهَا، ” من اعْتكف عشرا فِي رَمَضَان كَانَ كحجتين وعمرتين “، وَمِنْهَا ” من اعْتكف إِيمَانًا واحتساباً غفر لَهُ مَا تقدم من ذَنبه ” ذكرهمَا فِي الْجَامِع
