Question:-
1. Can I make intention for Nafl i’tikaaf every time I am on my Musallah?
2. If yes, there are 2 places in my room where I regularly read my salaah. May I use both places for Nafl I’tikaaf?
Answer:-
I’tikaaf for females refer to Mustahab or Nafl I’tikaaf during the last 10 days of Ramadaan as understood from the following text of the jurists. We haven’t come across any text that explicitly states that a female may make intention of I’tikaaf at the time of every Salaah as men make intention of Nafl I’tikaaf every time they enter the Masjid.
والمرأة تعتكف في مسجد بيتها إذا اعتكفت في مسجد بيتها فتلك البقعة في حقها كمسجد الجماعة في حق الرجل لا تخرج منه إلا لحاجة الإنسان كذا في شرح المبسوط للإمام السرخسي. ولو اعتكفت في مسجد الجماعة جاز ويكره هكذا في محيط السرخسي. والأول أفضل، ومسجد حيها أفضل لها من المسجد الأعظم، ولها أن تعتكف في غير موضع صلاتها من بيتها إذا اعتكفت فيه كذا في التبيين. ولو لم يكن في بيتها مسجد تجعل موضعا منه مسجدا فتعتكف فيه كذا في الزاهدي.
