Sajdah-e-Tilaawat not performed in one’s lifetime
Question:-
If a person omitted many Sajdah-e-Tilaawat in his lifetime, should the Fidya be paid after his demise?
Answer:-
When reciting the verses of Sajdah, it is obligatory to make Sajdah-e-Tilaawat, hence, one should make an effort to perform these Sajdahs during one’s lifetime. However, if these Sajdahs were not performed during one’s lifetime, it will not be Waajib to pay the Fidya after demise, but it should be paid as a precautionary measure, particularly if the deceased had made a Wasiyyat to fulfill all outstanding religious obligations from the estate. The Fidya amount is the same as the Sadaqatul Fitr amount. [Re:- Jawahirul Fiqh Pg.393 Vol.1]
