QUESTION:
Can you read Salaah in front of a reflective surface?
ANSWER:
If the reflective surface distracts you in Salaah, then one should avoid performing Salaah before it. If it does not interfere with your concentration in Salaah, then there is no problem.
(وَلَا بَأْسَ بِنَقْشِهِ خَلَا مِحْرَابَهُ) فَإِنَّهُ يُكْرَهُ لِأَنَّهُ يُلْهِي الْمُصَلِّي. وَيُكْرَه التَّكَلُّفُ بِدَقَائِقِ النُّقُوشِ وَنَحْوِهَا خُصُوصًا فِي جِدَارِ الْقِبْلَةِ قَالَهُ الْحَلَبِيُّ. وَفِي حَظْرِ الْمُجْتَبَى: وَقِيلَ يُكْرَهُ فِي الْمِحْرَابِ دُونَ السَّقْفِ وَالْمُؤَخَّرِ انْتَهَى. وَظَاهِرُهُ أَنَّ الْمُرَادَ بِالْمِحْرَابِ جِدَارُ الْقِبْلَةِ فَلْيُحْفَظْ (رد المحتار ص658 ج1)
