Question:
I am a university student living approximately 300 km away from my hometown. My dad bought me a property to stay in for the duration of my studies of 5 years. I visit my family occasionally on the weekends. Am I a traveler if the time between the two visits is less than 15 days?
Answer:
While traveling from university to home, you will be considered a Musaafir. On reaching your hometown, you will no longer be a Musaafir. On returning to university, you will once again be a Musaafir. On reaching your temporary residence, you will be Musaafir if you intend to stay there for 15 days or more. If you intend to stay for 15 days or less at your temporary abode, then you will perform your Salaah in full.
