Scammed by a travel agency

Question:-

I wanted to ask, if I got scammed by a travel agency, can I count the money which was stolen as interest money, as I have some interest money to give away?

Answer:-

In the queried scenario, interest funds cannot be used to cover the losses which you have incurred with the travel agency, as doing so is tantamount to benefitting from interest funds. It is not permissible to derive any form of benefit from interest funds.

The interest funds in your possession will have to be disposed to the correct recipients, that is, either poor Muslims that are eligible for Zakaat or poor non-Muslims.
