Selling cars through a third party

Apr 22, 2024 | Business Dealings

QUESTION:

Would it be permissible to sell cars on finance through a third party? This entails passing the client’s documents over to another dealer who will proceed with approval checks at an additional cost to the client, on our behalf. We in turn, will receive the payment directly from the bank.

ANSWER:

By referring the client to a third party, you are assisting in the disobedience of Allah Ta’ala which has been categorically prohibited in the Quraan Sharif. The Quraan Sharif states, “And do not assist in acts of sin and transgression.” [Surah Maa’idah, Verse 2] You will be sinful for financing the vehicle through a third party. However, the funds received in lieu of selling the vehicle will not be considered as Haraam.
