QUESTION:
On various social media platforms, videos containing Quraan Sharif being recited in the background are shared with others, and at the same time, encouraging others to do so as a form of ensuring good will come to a person by doing a good (i.e. by sharing the video). However, we believe in Taqdeer, that all good and bad is from Allah Ta’ala. Should we share these videos?
ANSWER:
Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms are primarily for entertainment. These platforms contain all sorts of Haraam including music, advertisements of Haraam and impermissible things, and consists of various other wrongs. A place of filth and impurity is not suitable for the Kalaam (words) of Allah Ta’ala which is most pure and elevated. You should therefore refrain from frequenting these platforms and furthermore, refrain from sharing recitations posted on these platforms. The Ulama have written that to take the name of Allah in a place of impurity could result in Kufr. Also, it is possible that instead of accessing the recitation only, many could be attracted to other wrongs on these platforms, and you were the means of them doing so by sharing the link with them. In conclusion, we advise abstention.
ALLAH TA’ALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST!
