Sitting Posture Of Females In Salaah

QUESTION:

Please explain, in detail, the posture of Jalsah and Qa’adah for females?

ANSWER:

Jalsah Posture: She should sit on her left buttock while keeping both her feet out on the right side. She should join her thighs together.  Also, she should keep both her hands on her thighs with the fingers joined together and she should place her fingertips at the edge of her knees. Furthermore, she should fix her gaze on the area between the lower chest and lap whilst in Jalsah

Qa’adah Posture: After the second Sajdah of the second Rakaat, she should sit in the position of Qa’adah in the same manner as she had sat in Jalsah.

وتجلس متوركة في كل قعود بأن تجلس على أليتها اليسرى وتخرج كلتا رجليها من الجانب الأيمن وتضع فخذيها على بعضها وتجعل الساق الأيمن على الساق الأيسر كما في مجمع الأنمر (حاشية الطحطاوي ص 259)

وتتورك في التشهد وتضع فيه يديها تبلغ أصابعها ركبتيها وتضم فيه أصابعها (الدر المختار و حاشية ابن عابدين 1/504)

ويجلس في الأخيرة كما جلس في الأولى هكذا في الهداية (الفتاوى الهندية 1/76)
