Can we slaughter a sheep and discharge as Zakaat?
Answer:-
We understand from your query that a person slaughters a sheep with the intention of giving the meat as Zakaat to the poor. There is no harm in doing so, as long as the meat is discharged at the current market value. If he gives the entire animal as Zakaat (without slaughtering it), then the market value of the animal will be considered. Please take note that the animal that is being discharged as Zakaat, is in no way a replacement of one’s Waajib Qurbani.
