QUESTION:
When it comes to employment contracts, it is compulsory to join a medical aid fund which deducts automatically from your salary. I wanted to know, in this case, will it be permissible to join a company where they deduct medical aid fees from my salary, but I will not use the medical aid? Please advise what is the best to do in such situations.
ANSWER:
If it is company policy that all staff members are required to subscribe to a medical aid policy, and the premiums are directly deducted from your salary without your consent, then due to these circumstances, it will be permissible to subscribe to the policy. You are also at liberty to fully benefit from the policy in terms of Shariah.
