Fifty-One Sunnats of Salaah
Eleven Sunnats of Qiyaam:
- At the time of saying Takbeer-e-Tahreemah (Allahu Akbar), the back should be kept upright. The head should not be bent downwards.
- The feet should be placed four fingers apart. The toes should be facing towards Qiblah.
Note: Some jurists have mentioned that keeping the feet at a distance of four fingers is Mustahab. However, in Fiqh, the word Mustahab is used for Sunnah and vice versa.
- The Muqatdees should raise their hands to say Takbeer-e-Tahreemah (Allahu Akbar) together with the Imaam.
Note: If the Muqtadis Takbeer-e-Tahreemah ends before the Imaam, his following (of the Imaam) will not be correct.
- At the time of saying Takbeer-e-Tahreemah, both hands should be raised up to the ears.
- The palms of the hands should be facing the Qiblah at the time of Takbeer.
- The fingers should be in their natural position at the time of Takbeer i.e. neither spread out, nor tightly closed.
- When folding the hands, the palm of the right hand should be placed on the back of the left hand.
- The small finger and the thumb of the right hand should form a circle around the wrist of the left hand.
- The middle three fingers should be placed flat over the forearm.
- One should position the hands below the navel. Females should place their hands on their chest. The right palm should be placed on the outer portion of the left hand.
- It is Sunnah to recite the Thanaa:
سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِك وتبارك اسْمك وَتَعَالَى جدك وَلَا إِلَه غَيْرك
