“Talama Ashku Gharami”

QUESTION:

Is one allowed to listen to the Qasidah, “Talama Ashku Gharami”, as some say it is a part of Sufism?

ANSWER:

Based on our research, ‘Talama Askhu Gharami’ is a traditional Arabic poem or Qasidah wherein the poet is expressing his love and longing for the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Therefore, it is allowed to listen to this Qasidah, as long as there are no musical instruments in the background.
