Vomit Of Babies

QUESTION:

If my carpet is soiled with baby’s vomit and some other impurities which are Napaak, will it be considered Paak if it is cleaned by professional carpet cleaners?

ANSWER:

When any item is soiled with Najaasah (impurity) such as a baby’s vomit, etc. the impurity should be cleaned by washing it with water three times. The method to purify heavy carpets is to wash them once and then leave them until the water stops dripping. When the dripping stops, wash them a second time and wait again until the dripping stops. In this way, by washing them three times, the carpet will become pure.
If washing is difficult for some reason, the area can be soaked with a cloth and wiped clean multiple times until the impurity is removed and one is satisfied. This is the correct procedure prescribed by the Fuqaha for cleansing impurity from a carpet. The carpet cleaners should be requested to use either of the above methods.
