Question:-
1. Is it permissible to wear jewellery with verses of the Quraan Sharif engraved on it, particularly when it comes to necklaces containing Aayatul Kursi?
2. Is it permissible for one to hang up frames with the 99 names of Allah and Aayaat of the Quraan Sharif in the house?
Answer:-
1. The Kitaabs of Fiqh state that engraving the name of Allah or the name of His Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam on a ring is permitted with the proviso that the stone is covered (by placing it in one’s pocket or sleeves) when entering the bathroom. However, it is best that one refrains from engraving verses of the Quraan on jewellery as it is generally disrespected. [Re: Kitaabun Nawaazil Vol:15 Pg:465]
2. The Fuqaha have written that to write verses of the Quraan and Ahadith on walls, doors, buildings, etc. is against etiquettes and Makrooh. [Re: Kifaayatul Mufti Vol:10 Pg:385] Based on the above, it is best not to hang any verses of the Quraan Sharif or the Asmaa-e-Husna on the walls. In the very room where the names of Allah and the verses of the Quraan Sharif are hung, many are watching videos on their phones and televisions and various other wrongs take place. Hence, we advise abstention.
