Wearing Niqaab while performing Salaah in public places

QUESTION:

1. When in a public space, females keep the Niqaab on while performing Salaah. However, if they are in a public place but the possibility of Ghayr Mahram men seeing them is low or non-existent, should they still keep the face covered while performing Salaah?

2. Should females wear the Niqaab while inside the Ladies’ section of Masjid-un-Nabawi?

ANSWER:

1. Since there is a possibility of Na-Mahram males entering the public area, it will be best to perform Salaah whilst wearing the Niqaab as we are living in an era of Fitnah. It will not be Makrooh to cover the face. [Re:- Kitaab-un-Nawaazil Pg.529 Vol.5]

2. Yes, Niqaab should be worn by females in Masjid-un-Nabawi due to the cameras installed in the Masjid. These are generally monitored by males; hence females should not remove their Niqaab in Masjid-un-Nabawi.
