Shortening the Salaah

Aug 23, 2023 | Salaah

QUESTION:

If a person has many Qadhaa Salaah, are they allowed to shorten their Salaah, for example, by leaving out Durood-e-Ibrahim, the Dua after Durood etc.?

ANSWER:

  1. Yes, it will be acceptable to shorten one’s Salaah in the sense that short Surahs may be recited. Similarly, the recitation of the Thanaa, which is a Mustahab of Salaah, may be omitted. However, it is best that Durood Sharif (which is a Sunnah of Salaah) is recited at the end of Salaah because, by omitting Durood, one will be performing Salaah contrary to the Sunnah. It is best to recite Durood-e-Ibrahim but any other shorter version of Durood Sharif may be recited as well. These are some of the ways of shortening the Salaah.
