QUESTION:
I would like to enquire regarding writing (S.A.W) instead of ﷺ or صلى ﷲ عليه وسلم. I’ve heard somewhere that the person who invented writing (S.A.W), his hand became paralyzed.
ANSWER:
It is Waajib to write the complete Salaat and Salaam when writing the name of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. When writing, some people abbreviate the words and use “SAWS” or “SAW ” or “صلعم” as a short form. One should write the full Salaat and Salaam that is: صلى الله عليه وسلم or Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. [Re: Ma’ariful Quraan – English version – Vol:7 Pg: 232]
