Advice of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam when the condition of the Ummah will deteriorate
Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, if you observe that the promises of people have become corrupt (meaning that people no longer uphold their promises), and their trusts are deception (people are no longer upright in their matters, rather they deceive in matters of trust), and they have become like this – he entered the fingers of one hand into the fingers of the other hand (meaning that you will be confused in regards to their Deeni matters, you will not know whether one is trustworthy or a deceiver, or whether he is righteous or evil.)
Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas Radiallahu Anhu says that I stood up and asked Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, “What should I do at such a time – May Allah Ta’ala make me sacrifice my life for you?” Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Hold firmly to your home (don’t leave your home except due to necessity and keep to yourself), control your tongue (don’t engage in unnecessary discussions and don’t contribute to the differences of the scholars), grip onto that which you recognise as being the truth (Haqq) and leave out what you reject from being the truth. It is necessary for you to be concerned of matters pertaining to yourself, and distance yourself from matters pertaining to the general people. [Reference:- Abu Dawud, Nasai’ee, Ibn Majah]
