Question:-
Is there a punishment for (Muslims) that eat in front of fasting people in the month of Ramadaan? What if a person is ill and cannot fast or, one is a traveller?
Answer:-
The traveller and ill person should not eat openly in front of others, rather they should eat discreetly. Eating openly in front of others in the month of Ramadaan (without having a valid reason to omit fasting) is a serious offense. The punishment is of a serious nature as well, but cannot be implemented by any person. Only a person with authority, such as the Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen, can enforce the punishment.
