Shortest method of Qadhaa Salaah
Question:-
After becoming Bay’ah to a Sheikh of Tasawwuf, the importance of making up for one’s missed Salaah has been impressed upon me.
If one has many years of Qadha Salaah to make up for, what is the shortest method of doing so, which is acceptable.
– Must Thanaa be recited?
– Must a Surah be recited after Surah Fatiha?
– Is it acceptable to recite one Tasbeeh in Ruku and Sajdah?
– Is it acceptable to recite SubhaanAllah in the 3rd and 4th Rakaat of Thuhr, Asr and Esha, and the 3rd Rakaat of Maghrib?
– Must one recite a Surah in all 3 Rakaats of Witr?
– What is the shortest Durood that one may recite after At-Tahiyaat before making Salaam?
If Mufti Saheb has any further guidance or advice on the matter, I would greatly appreciate it.
Answer:-
You are indeed very fortunate that Allah Ta’ala has blessed you with the ability of commencing with your Qadhaa Salaah. You should be extremely grateful for being blessed with such a great bounty, Alhamdulillah.
- We suggest that you adhere to the Sunnah method of performing Salaah. If your drop off some of the Sunnah acts of Salaah, then you will be saving on perhaps a minute or so. However, if you sacrifice that additional minute, you will be performing a perfect Salaah Insha’Allah. However, we will now embark on answering your queries below.
- The Thanaa may be omitted.
- To join a Surah with Surah Fateha is Waajib hence, it has to be recited.
وضم سورة أو ثلاث آيات: في ركعتين غير متعينتين من الفرض – وفي جميع ركعات الوتر. (ثمرة النجاح ص230)
- It is Sunnah to recite the Tasbeehaat of Ruku and Sajda thrice. By reciting the Tasbeehaat once, the Salaah will be valid but one will be contradicting the Sunnah.
وتكبيرة الركوع وتسبيحه ثلاثا (ثمرة النجاح ص249)
- Yes, “SubhaanAllah”may be recited thrice in place of Surah Fateha in the 3rd and 4th Rakaat of the Fardh Salaah. The recitation of Surah Fateha is Sunnah.
وقراءة الفاتحة فيما بعد الأوليين (ثمرة النجاح ص255)
- Yes, a Surah should be joined with Surah Fateha in every Rakaat of the Witr Salaah.
- The best Durood is Durood-e-Ibrahim hence, it was prescribed for Salaah. However, reciting any other Durood will suffice.
والصلاة على سيدنا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في الجلوس الأخير والدعاء بما يشبه ألفاظ القرآن والسنة (ثمرة النجاح ص254)
