Performing Wudhu and Ghusl with gold teeth

Oct 31, 2021 | Tahaarah

Question:-

A person had gold teeth fitted without any need but rather as an adornment. What is the ruling in regards to his Wudhu and Ghusl?

Answer:-

There exists a difference of opinion amongst the Fuqaha in regards attaching and fitting gold teeth without necessity. One should refrain from having such teeth attached if there isn’t a genuine need and necessity. However, since one has had the gold teeth attached and it cannot be removed without difficulty, it will be considered to be as part of one’s body. It will therefore not be an obstacle in the performance of Ghusl or Wudhu.

N.B. It is recorded in Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah that attaching a silver tooth is permitted according to Imaam Abu Hanifa Rahimahullah but attaching a gold tooth is not permitted. However, Imaam Muhammad Rahimahullah has permitted gold fillings, etc. Due to the difference of opinion amongst the scholars, it will be better to refrain from having gold teeth fitted.
