Souls of the deceased after their demise
Question:-
Where do the souls of the deceased go on their demise? Do they meet the rest of the Marhoomeen ? Is there any proof from hadeeth to substantiate this?
Answer:-
The souls of the Ambiya Alaihimus Salaam are in the highest level of the Illiyeen, whilst the souls of the martyrs are in Jannah, and the souls of the little children are close to them. As for the souls of the believers, it is stated that it is in Jannah and the souls of the Kuffar are in Sijjeen (a place of punishment beneath the seven earths, where the records of the Kuffar are placed).

It is proven that the souls of the deceased meet their relatives after death. The deceased relatives are pleased with their meeting, just as one’s living relatives rejoice on the return of their close one from a distant journey. The souls of those that passed away earlier enquire from the soul of the current deceased about their relatives that are alive in the world, and on hearing of their good condition they rejoice.
