Acceptance of Ibaadah
QUESTION:
How will I know if my Tahajjud has been accepted?
ANSWER:
From the outset, one should keep in mind that every act of Ibaadah must be done solely for the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala, in accordance to the Sunnah of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. After carrying out the Ibaadah, one should beg and beseech Allah Ta’ala for the acceptance of the Ibaadah. When Nabi Ibrahim and Ismail Alayhimus Salaam had constructed the Ka’bah, they had also begged Allah Ta’ala for acceptance. Allah Ta’ala mentions in the Quraan Majeed:
وَ اِذْ یَرْفَعُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْقَوَاعِدَ مِنَ الْبَیۡتِ وَ اِسْمٰعِیۡلُ ؕ رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا ؕ اِنَّکَ اَنۡتَ السَّمِیۡعُ الْعَلِیۡمُ ۱۲۷
‘And (remember) when Ibrahim and Ismail (Alayhimas Salaam) were raising the foundations of the House, (saying), “Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us. Verily! You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.’
When one carries out one’s Ibaadah in the above manner, then one will have firm hope in the mercy of Allah Ta’ala that He will accept our Ibaadah.
Ibn Rajab Hanbali (Rahimahullah) writes in his Kitaab, Lataaiful Ma’arif, that when Allah Ta’ala accepts the action of a servant, He grants him Taufeeq (divine ability) to carry out a good action again.
فإن الله إذا تقبل عمل عبد وفقه لعمل صالح بعده (لطائف المعارف ص301)
Hence, the fact that you getting the Divine ability to wake up for Tahajjud the next day, is a sign that Allah Ta’ala has accepted your Tahajjud Insha’Allah.
ALLAH TA’ALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST!
