Alternative Duas In Witr Salaah

QUESTION:

When making Qadhaa for multiple Witr Salaah, can one recite any other short Duas instead of Qunoot in the third Rakaat, for convenience? If yes, which Dua can be made?

ANSWER:

Yes, it is permissible to make any Dua which appears in the Quraan or Ahaadith, in the third Rakaat of the Witr Salaah at the time of Qunoot. One can recite اَللّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ three times, or رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّار. Even if one reads, يَا رَبَّ three times, it will suffice. However, it is preferable to recite the Qunoot narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas’ood Radhiyallau Anhu which is as follows;

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْتَعِينُكَ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَنُؤْمِنُ بِكَ وَنَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْكَ وَنُثْنِي عَلَيْكَ الْخَيْرَ وَنَشْكُرُكَ وَلَا نَكْفُرُكَ وَنَخْلَعُ وَنَتْرُكُ مَنْ يَفْجُرُكَ
اللَّهُمَّ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَلَكَ نُصَلِّي وَنَسْجُدُ وَإِلَيْكَ نَسْعَى وَنَحْفِدُ وَنَرْجُو رَحْمَتَكَ وَنَخْشَى عَذَابَكَ إِنَّ عَذَابَكَ بِالْكُفَّارِ مُلْحِقٌ
