QUESTION:
Is the following Dua authentic or fabricated?
اللهم اني اسألك تمام الوضوء و تمام الصلاة…
ANSWER:
Hafidh Ibn Hajr Asqalaani Rahimahullah – a senior scholar of Hadith- has classified this Hadith as extremely weak. Ibn Jowzi has stated that it is not authentic from Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam and used words of criticism in regard to the narration, hence it should not be quoted as a Masnoon Dua even though the meaning is correct.
عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ – صَلَّى اللَّهُ عليه وَسَلَّمَ يَا عَلِيُّ، إِذَا تَوَضَّأْتَ فَقُلْ: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ تَمَامَ الْوُضُوءِ، وَتَمَامَ الصَّلَاةِ، وَتَمَامَ رِضْوَانِكَ، وَتَمَامَ مَغْفِرَتِكَ، فَهَذَا زَكَاةُ الوضوء هذا حديث ضعيف جدًا .قال ابن الجوزي: هذا حديث لا يصح عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ والمتهم به (المطالب العالية 2/252…10/675)
