QUESTION:
Is the Salawaat collection “Dalaa’il-ul-Khairaat” permissible to read?
Does the following extract from the above count as Istigatha?
ANSWER:
It is permissible to recite the Salawaat recorded in Dalaa’il-ul-Khairaat. As long as the meaning of the Durood is correct, it is permissible to recite the Durood even though it may not be recorded in the books of Hadith. However, it is best to recite the Durood Sharif that is recorded in the Hadith Sharif.
Hadrat Thanvi Rahimahullah has stated in ‘Zaadus Saeed’ that innumerable ways of reciting Durood and Salaam have been reported from the pious predecessors, an example of which is the book Dalaa’il-ul-Khairat. [Re:- Virtues of Salaat Alan Nabi Pg.73] In conclusion, there is no problem reciting from Dalaa’il-ul-Khairaat.
The Dua recorded in the query is requesting Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam to make Shafaa’at (intercede) on our behalf before Allah Ta’ala, and we are asking Allah Ta’ala to accept his intercession in our favour because of his position by Allah Ta’ala. This Dua is in order and should be made at the Rowdah-e-Mubarak.
