Cleaning semen from the clothing

Question:-

1. I would like to find out the ruling regarding semen on linen. If it dries before washing it, will it still be Napaak? How should it be cleaned?

2. I would also like to find out regarding the usage of hair brushes that are manufactured from pig hair?

3. Is it permissible to use the “Revlon One Step” hairdryer?

Answer:-

1. The semen on the clothing or linen is considered as Napaak. The Fuqaha have written that if the semen is wet on the clothing, then it should be washed for the clothing or linen to be considered as Paak.

However, if the semen has dried then it can be scratched off (in the case where it is thick and can be removed). However, one should ensure that no pre-coital fluid had emerged before the emergence of the semen, if one intends scratching the dried semen off the clothing. If pre-coital fluid had emerged at the time of foreplay, then the semen will have to be washed and cannot be scratched off the linen or clothing.

قَوْلُهُ: وَالْمَنِيُّ نَجِسٌ) .

وَقَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ طَاهِرٌ «لِقَوْلِهِ – عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ – لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ الْمَنِيُّ كَالْمُخَاطِ فَأَمِطْهُ عَنْك، وَلَوْ بِإِذْخِرَةٍ» وَلِأَنَّهُ أَصْلُ خِلْقَةِ الْآدَمِيِّ فَكَانَ طَاهِرًا كَالتُّرَابِ، وَلَنَا «قَوْلُهُ – عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ – لِعَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ وَقَدْ رَآهُ يَغْسِلُ ثَوْبَهُ مِنْ نُخَامَةٍ إنَّمَا يُغْسَلُ الثَّوْبُ مِنْ خَمْسٍ مِنْ الْبَوْلِ وَالْغَائِطِ وَالدَّمِ وَالْمَنِيِّ وَالْقَيْءِ» فَقَرَنَ الْمَنِيَّ بِالْأَشْيَاءِ الَّتِي هِيَ نَجِسَةٌ بِالْإِجْمَاعِ فَكَانَ حُكْمُهُ كَحُكْمِ مَا قُرِنَ بِهِ، وَأَمَّا حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَهُوَ حُجَّةٌ لَنَا؛ لِأَنَّهُ أَمَرَهُ بِالْإِمَاطَةِ وَالْأَمْرُ لِلْوُجُوبِ كَذَا فِي النِّهَايَةِ وَلِأَنَّهُ خَارِجٌ يَتَعَلَّقُ بِخُرُوجِهِ نَقْضُ الطَّهَارَةِ كَالْبَوْلِ ثُمَّ نَجَاسَةُ الْمَنِيِّ عِنْدَنَا مُغَلَّظَةٌ

(قَوْلُهُ: يَجِبُ غَسْلُ رَطْبِهِ فَإِذَا جَفَّ عَلَى الثَّوْبِ أَجْزَأَ فِيهِ الْفَرْكُ) قَيَّدَ بِالثَّوْبِ؛ لِأَنَّهُ إذَا جَفَّ عَلَى الْبَدَنِ فَفِيهِ اخْتِلَافُ الْمَشَايِخِ قَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لَا يَطْهُرُ إلَّا بِالْغَسْلِ؛ لِأَنَّ الْبَدَنَ لَا يُمْكِنُ فَرْكُهُ.

وَفِي الْهِدَايَةِ قَالَ مَشَايِخُنَا يَطْهُرُ بِالْفَرْكِ كَمَا فِي الثَّوْبِ وَإِنَّمَا يَطْهُرُ بِالْفَرْكِ إذَا كَانَ وَقْتَ خُرُوجِهِ رَأْسُ الذَّكَرِ طَاهِرًا بِأَنْ بَالَ وَاسْتَنْجَى بِالْمَاءِ وَإِلَّا فَلَا يَطْهُرُ إلَّا بِالْغَسْلِ، وَقِيلَ إنَّمَا يَطْهُرُ بِالْفَرْكِ إذَا خَرَجَ قَبْلَ الْمَذْيِ أَمَّا إذَا أَمْذَى قَبْلَ خُرُوجِهِ لَا يَطْهُرُ إلَّا بِالْغَسْلِ وَهَذَا كُلُّهُ فِي مَنِيِّ الرَّجُلِ أَمَّا مَنِيُّ الْمَرْأَةِ فَلَا يَطْهُرُ بِالْفَرْكِ؛ لِأَنَّهُ رَقِيقٌ، وَلَوْ نَفَذَ الْمَنِيُّ إلَى الْبِطَانَةِ يُكْتَفَى بِالْفَرْكِ هُوَ الصَّحِيحُ وَعَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ لَا يَطْهُرُ إلَّا بِالْغَسْلِ؛ لِأَنَّهُ إنَّمَا يُصِيبُهُ الْبَلَلُ وَالْبَلَلُ لَا يَطْهُرُ بِالْفَرْكِ، ثُمَّ إذَا أَجْزَأَ فِيهِ الْفَرْكُ وَعَاوَدَهُ الْمَاءُ فِيهِ رِوَايَتَانِ وَالصَّحِيحُ أَنَّهُ يَعُودُ نَجِسًا وَفِي الْخُجَنْدِيِّ لَا يَعُودُ نَجِسًا.

2. Any hairbrushes manufactured from pig hair will not be permissible to utilize, as the pig is Najis-ul-Ain.

3. Regarding the “Revlon One-Step” hairdryer, we assume that it is a hairdryer that is used to dry the hair and at the same time, style the hair. If one uses it to style her hair for the pleasure of her husband within the home, then there is no prohibition in doing so. Similarly, there is no problem in using it to dry the hair. If the bristles are from pig hair then it will not be permissible to use. We have been informed that the Revlon hairdryer bristles are made from pig hair.

واما التحمير ونحوه فيجوز باذن الزوج وفي داخل البيت ويحرم بغير اذن الزوج وخارج المنزل (الفقه الإسلام وادلته 2683 ج4 رشيدية)
