QUESTION:
How do we, who are from amongst the Awwaam, encourage those who have studied Deen, to wear their Topis and scarves, Purdahs etc. in the method described in the previous Fatwa? When we bring up this topic, they argue with some proof or reasoning for the way the Topi is worn, or for wearing the scarf/Dupatta is such a manner that some hair shows, and then the Purdah is tied, sometimes leaving the forehead or some hair visible. How should we address them when they are resistant to our Targheeb?
ANSWER:
It is best to request a senior that is addressing them, or their Asaatidha to bring these matters to their attention. It is easier for them to accept from their seniors than from any other person. If this is not possible, then they should be addressed in a subtle manner with great wisdom, and then left to decide. If they present their proofs and intend taking the discussion further, then change the topic and forget the issue. Our responsibility is to convey the message, thus, once the message has been conveyed, it should be left to them to decide.
