Disposal Of Tasbeeh Counters

QUESTION:

What is the best and most appropriate way to dispose of Tasbeeh counters that no longer work?

ANSWER:

A Tasbeeh counter is not from the Shi’aar (salient features) of Deen. However, it will be best to bury it, as throwing it into a bin will be tantamount to disrespect.

قَالَ عَبْدٌ اللهِ ابنُ المُبارَكِ: مَنْ تهاوَنَ بالأدَبِ عُوقِبَ بحِرمانِ السُّنَنِ، ومَن تهاوَنَ بالسُّنَنِ عُوقِبَ بحِرمانِ الفرائِضِ، ومَن تهاوَنَ بالفرائِضِ عُوقِبَ بحِرمانِ المَعرِفةِ (شعب الإيمان 4/559)

“The one who will consider the various etiquettes of Deen as insignificant will be deprived of the Sunnats; the one who will consider the Sunnats of Deen as insignificant will be deprived of the Faraaidh; and the one who will consider the Faraaidh to be insignificant will be deprived of the recognition of Allah Ta’ala.”
