QUESTION:
I’ve heard many people saying that when a person returns from Umrah, their Duas are accepted for 40 days. Is this true?
ANSWER:
We were unable to locate the narration which states that a person’s Dua is accepted for forty days after returning from Umrah. The narration of Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaibah states, “The Haji, and the person on behalf of whom the Haji seeks forgiveness, is forgiven for the remainder of Dhul Hijjah, Muharram, Safr and the first ten days of Rabi-ul-Awwal.” This is estimated to be 90 days depending on the number of days in the Islamic month.
