Experiencing a wet dream while fasting

Oct 31, 2023 | Fasting, Qadha And Kaffarah

QUESTION:

1. Does experiencing a wet dream while one is keeping a Qadhaa fast, invalidate the fast? And is there a time period in which Ghusl should be made after waking up?

2. Up until what time can I decide to break my Qadhaa fast, without incurring a penalty?

ANSWER:

1. Experiencing a wet dream while fasting does not invalidate the fast. Although taking a Ghusl immediately upon awakening is not necessary, it is best that one does not delay the Ghusl unnecessarily.

2. A fast should not be nullified or broken without a valid reason. However, if one breaks a fast (other than the fasts of Ramadaan) without a valid reason, then only Qadha will be required. Yes, if the fasts of Ramadaan are broken without a valid reason, then Qadha and Kaffarah will be required.
