Experiencing a yellowish discharge after menstruation

May 3, 2024 | Haidh And Nifaas

QUESTION:

As an unmarried female, I experience irregular menstruation. After getting my menses, I performed Ghusl, and a few days later I found a thick discharge in my private part. I usually cleanse it with my finger and noticed that the discharge becomes watery and is large in quantity. At times I use an earbud to clean in the virginal area because using my finger becomes difficult. In this case will I be required to renew my Wudhu only, or must I take a bath? A few days later if you find a yellowish, reddish discharge after your period, must you perform Ghusl again, or does this not count as menstruation?

ANSWER:

When the blood becomes apparent, it is categorized as either Haidh, Istihaadah, or Nifaas. If the blood does not become apparent but remains within the private part, then one will not be categorized as a bleeding woman. Hence, there is no need for you to exaggerate, enter an earbud or your finger deep in the vagina, and remove any remaining impurities.

If the yellowish-reddish discharge is noticed within the ten days of Haidh, then it will be considered Haidh. However, the blood must emerge from the vagina and be apparent.
